Using Formingo with Jekyll

Formingo and Jekyll are the perfect companions. Jekyll, a static website generator, is a tool for developers to create performant static websites. One significant drawback, however, is that static websites cannot do any processing-- including something as simple as a contact form.

Formingo is a service that handles all of the backend processing for you so that you can embed a contact form in your static Jekyll website.

Embedding a Formingo form into your Jekyll static website is very easy and can be done in only a couple steps.

1. Create Your HTML Form

First, you must create an HTML form on your Jekyll site. You should use plain HTML form and input tags, just as if you were creating a form for some other service. For example, a contact form might look something like this:

<form method="POST"
      action="https://www.formingo.co/submit/john@example.com">
    <input type="text" name="full_name">
    <input type="email" name="__replyto">

    <input type="submit" value="Contact">
</form>

2. Adjust the form's action URL

Next, simply change the example email address in the form's action attribute to your own email address.

3. There is no step 3

That's it. You can immediately start using the form and submissions will be sent directly to your email address.

Once you receive your first submission, you will be required to confirm your email address. Simply click the verification link sent to you and you will receive all past and future form submissions.
